TouchPad button board Description TouchPad button board (includes cable) Spare part number 650477-001 Before removing the TouchPad button board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 41), and then remove the following components: a. Memory module/wireless module compartment cover (see WLAN module on page 44) b. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 52) c. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 54) d. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 57) e. Top cover (see Top cover on page 60) Remove the TouchPad button board, bracket, and cable: 1. Turn the top cover upside down, with the top toward you. 2. Remove the two Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws (1) and two Phillips PM2.0×3.5 screws (2) that secure the TouchPad button board bracket to the top cover. 3. Slide the TouchPad button board bracket (3) back until it releases from the tabs (4) built into the top cover. 68 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures

Before removing the TouchPad button board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see

), and then remove the following components:

Remove the TouchPad button board, bracket, and cable:
1.
Turn the top cover upside down, with the top toward you.
2.
Remove the two Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws
(1)
and two Phillips PM2.0×3.5 screws
(2)
that
secure the TouchPad button board bracket to the top cover.
3.
Slide the TouchPad button board bracket
(3)
back until it releases from the tabs
(4)
built into
the top cover.
