This includes servers that contain lots of small files that are likely to slow down backup performance on the host (i.e., those found on Windows file servers and web servers), blade servers, etc. Slower servers on the LAN typically interleave the backup through the media server and go out to one tape drive. These are good candidates for VLS and D2D because you can configure multiple virtual tape drives, disable multiplexing, and then backup each slow server in parallel (with multiplexing disabled the restores will run faster).
