1 Upgrading to HAFM 8.8 This chapter provides instructions and considerations for upgrading software and migrating data from HAFM 7.x or 8.x to HAFM 8.8. Information is also included on configuration tasks that you should perform after upgrading. Due to memory and other limitations of previous notebook server platforms, you cannot install HAFM 8.x on a notebook sever. The HAFM appliance is required for release 8.x and all future HAFM releases. The HAFM appliance and related applications provide a GUI to monitor and manage HP products. The HAFM appliance is a dedicated hardware and software solution that should not be used for other tasks. HP tests the HAFM application installed on the HAFM appliance, but HP does not test for compatibility with third-party software. CAUTION: Modifications to the HAFM appliance hardware or installation of additional software (including patches or service packs) may interfere with normal operation.
