2 Deployment using HP StoreOnce Enterprise Manager (SEM) Introduction This is the recommended deployment option because it guides you through the deployment steps and incorporates a number of checks and processes that ensure a successful deployment or graceful failback should deployment fail. The SEM GUI also provides a simple interface for adding storage and licensing your StoreOnce VSA after deployment. This deployment method requires HP SEM (StoreOnce Enterprise Manager) version 1 or later, and a stable network connection between SEM and vSphere 5.x hypervisor (ESXi) while deployment is in process. The deployment process will check the configuration of the ESXi host to ensure it meets the StoreOnce VSA system requirements. For more details, refer to StoreOnce VSA system requirements (page 5) and make sure you have downloaded the latest StoreOnceVSA_OVF package. Before you start Place the StoreOnceVSA_OVF package in the SEM Software Depot folder on the Windows client machine that you will use to deploy HP StoreOnce VSA. The pathname for this folder is:Program Files - Hewlett-Packard - HP StoreOnce Enterprise Manager - config - StoreOnceVSA_OVF Before starting the process make sure you know: 1. The IP address or hostname of the ESXi server If the ESXi server is managed using vCenter, you will also need the IP address or hostname of the vCenter. 2. The login credentials for a user with administration rights on the ESXi server (or vCenter, if appropriate) • ESXi (or vCenter) Admin ID • ESXi (or vCenter) Password 3. The name of the StoreOnceVSA_OVF file 14 Deployment using HP StoreOnce Enterprise Manager (SEM)

Introduction
This is the recommended deployment option because it guides you through the deployment steps
and incorporates a number of checks and processes that ensure a successful deployment or graceful
failback should deployment fail.
The SEM GUI also provides a simple interface for adding storage and licensing your StoreOnce
VSA after deployment.
This deployment method requires HP SEM (StoreOnce Enterprise Manager) version 1 or later, and
a stable network connection between SEM and vSphere 5.x hypervisor (ESXi) while deployment
is in process.
The deployment process will check the configuration of the ESXi host to ensure it meets the StoreOnce
VSA system requirements. For more details, refer to
StoreOnce VSA system requirements (page 5)
and make sure you have downloaded the latest StoreOnceVSA_OVF package.
Before you start
Place the StoreOnceVSA_OVF package in the SEM Software Depot folder on the Windows client
machine that you will use to deploy HP StoreOnce VSA. The pathname for this folder is:

Before starting the process make sure you know:
1.
The IP address or hostname of the ESXi server
If the ESXi server is managed using vCenter, you will also need the IP address or hostname
of the vCenter.
2.
The login credentials for a user with administration rights on the ESXi server (or vCenter, if
