Backing up configuration settings Important: Run ConfigSafe (or a similar application) to take a snapshot of your computer configuration before installing an optional device. Using this snapshot, you can view and compare the changes in the computer configuration after you install an option. Also, if you have problems configuring the option after it is installed, you can use ConfigSafe to restore the configuration to the previous settings. When you start your computer for the first time, ConfigSafe takes a snapshot of the initial configuration of your computer. You might be able to use this snapshot to restore the configuration to the initial settings. ConfigSafe is a part of the preinstalled software in your computer. For more information, use the ConfigSafe help system.
