RAID Support The Intel® Server Board S3000AH provides SATA (3.0 Gb/s) support. For information on configuring RAID, see the RAID Software Guide that is included on the Intel® Server Deployment Toolkit 2.0 CD. SATA Server Board The Intel® Server Board S3000AH provides an embedded SATA controller that supports both 1.5 and 3.0 Gbps data transfer rates. The BIOS Setup utility provides multiple drive configuration options on the Advanced | ATA Controller setup page, some of which affect the ability to configure RAID. The "Onboard SATA Controller" option is enabled by default. When this option is enabled, the "SATA Mode" option can be set to either Legacy or Enhanced. The Legacy and Enhanced modes affect the RAID configuration as follows: • In Legacy mode, the BIOS can enumerate only four drives and does not provide RAID support. • In Enhanced mode, the BIOS is not limited to legacy PATA four drive limitations and can enumerate the two PATA drives and four SATA drives (totalling six drives). This mode is required for RAID configurations. When the enhanced mode is selected, you can choose to "Configure SATA as RAID". Under SATA RAID OPROM: choosing the LSI* option (Intel® Embedded Server RAID Technology) will enable RAID 0, 1, and 10 while choosing Intel® Matrix Storage Technology will enable RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10.
