Individual Updates BIOS Upgrade Description Preparing for the Upgrade Before upgrading the BIOS, prepare for the upgrade by recording the current custom BIOS settings, and obtaining the upgrade utility. Obtaining a BIOS Update You can download the most current version of the BIOS from the Intel support website at: http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/scb2 ✏ NOTE Print and review the release notes and instructions distributed with the upgrade utility before attempting a BIOS upgrade. This upgrade utility allows you to upgrade the BIOS in flash memory. The following steps explain how to upgrade the BIOS. Creating the BIOS Upgrade Diskette The BIOS upgrade file is a compressed self-extracting archive that contains the files you need to upgrade the BIOS. 1. Copy the BIOS upgrade file to a temporary directory on the hard disk. 2. From the C:\ prompt, change to the temporary directory. 3. To extract the file, type the name of the BIOS upgrade file, for example: 10006BI1.EXE 4. Press . The extracted file contains the following files: LICENSE.TXT INSTALL.TXT BIOS.EXE 5. Read the LICENSE.TXT file, this contains the software license agreement, and the INSTALL.TXT file. It contains the instructions for the BIOS upgrade. 6. Insert the bootable diskette into drive A. 7. To extract the BIOS.EXE file to the diskette, change to the temporary directory that holds the BIOS.EXE file and type: BIOS A: 8. Press . 9. Preparing for the Upgrade
Before upgrading the BIOS, prepare for the upgrade by recording the current custom BIOS settings,
and obtaining the upgrade utility.
Obtaining a BIOS Update
You can download the most current version of the BIOS from the Intel support website at:

review the release notes and instructions distributed with the
upgrade utility before attempting a BIOS upgrade.
This upgrade utility allows you to upgrade the BIOS in flash memory.
The
following steps explain how to upgrade the BIOS.
Creating the BIOS Upgrade Diskette
The BIOS upgrade file is a compressed self-extracting archive that contains the files you need to
upgrade the BIOS.
1.
Copy the BIOS upgrade file to a temporary directory on the hard disk.
2.
From the C:\ prompt, change to the temporary directory.
3.
To extract the file, type the name of the BIOS upgrade file, for example:
10006BI1.EXE
4. Press <Enter>.
The extracted file contains the following files:
LICENSE.TXT
INSTALL.TXT
BIOS.EXE
5.
Read the LICENSE.TXT file, this contains the software license agreement, and the
INSTALL.TXT file.
It contains the instructions for the BIOS upgrade.
6.
Insert the bootable diskette into drive A.
7.
To extract the BIOS.EXE file to the diskette, change to the temporary directory that holds the
BIOS.EXE file and type:
BIOS A:
8. Press <Enter>.
