RAID controller. The SAS and SATA protocols use a thin, 7-wire connector. Note: Use only "straight" SAS cables, not "cross-over" SAS cables. to a Hard Disk Drive Note: The cable provided connects directly only to SATA drives and SAS backplanes. SAS drive manufacturers use a small plastic key ring between the data and power connectors. This chapter describes the characteristics of the Intel® RAID Controller SRCSAS18E. The Intel® RAID Controller SRCSAS18E is a dual phys SAS PCI Express* storage adapter that is used in a system with a PCI Express slot.
