24 Let's have sound Basic operation PHONES Reproducing sound with enhanced bass (EX.BASS) (NV-301 only) Listening through headphones (optional) Insert the headphone plug into the PHONES jack. ÷ The sound from all speakers is cut off. 3 1 Basic section 2 NV-301 NV-701 Muting the sound temporarily (MUTE) STANDBY STANDBY 1 POWER ON/STANDBY (For U.S.A.) 1. Switching the power ON (OFF) When the power is ON, pressing the ON/STANDBY (POWER) key puts the unit in the standby mode and the STANDBY indicator lights up. Selecting the desired output Select the desired source by pressing the CD, TUNER, TAPE, MD/DVD (NV301 only), or VIDEO/6ch IN (NV-701 only) key. ÷ When you press the TAPE or CD key, the unit starts playback automatically (if a tape or CD has been loaded beforehand). ÷ If you select the MD/DVD (NV-301 only), or VIDEO/6ch IN (NV-701 only) external input mode, also read the instruction manual of the component connected to the MD/DVD (NV-301 only) jacks or VIDEO jacks (NV-701 only). ÷ (NV-701 only) Pressing the VIDEO/6ch IN key repeatedly switches the input between the components connected to the VIDEO 1 and VIDEO 2 jacks. 3.
