This supports the document so that it is fed straight. Load the document face-up in this tray. Documents will exit into this tray after they have been scanned. Used when printing on envelopes, transparencies, and custom paper sizes. Open this when paper jams and when replacing the drum cartridge. If the optional 500-sheet 2nd cassette has been installed open this cover if the paper jams. The areas indicated in red increase as the paper level in the paper cassette decreases.
