LaCie 2big Network User Manual 3.7.3.3. Accessing External Hard Drives Attached external hard drives and their partitions appears as shares on the Browse page. See section 4, Accessing the Shared Storage. technical note: When shares are created from partitioned external hard drive volumes, they are intitally named with a series of numbers and letters. You can rename the shares on the Shares page. Once the drive is recognized, users can be assigned access just like other shares (by default, users will not have access). See section 3.4, Users. Partitions If the external USB drive is partitioned, each vol- ume will appear as one share in the 2big Network (Fig. 3.7.3.3). By default, all services (FTP, HTML, etc.) are activated. In Fig. 3.7.3.3, the volumes "LaCie1" and "LaCie2" are volumes of a partitioned external hard drive that is not connected to the 2big Network, as indicated by the gray Status indicator. The volumes "Scranton" and "Stamford" are volumes of an external drive that is currently connected, as indicated by the blue Status indicators. Important Info: The 2big Network supports drives formatted with the following file systems: MSDOS/FAT 32, NTFS in read-only mode, HFS+ and Linux file system formats (ext2/ext3/reiserfs).
