Auto-adjust the external monitor occasionally to realign its settings with the video output of the USB Port Replicator. This action fixes most of the issues related to the quality of the video on the external monitor. Refer to your notebook computer user's guide for instructions on the auto-adjust procedure. 4. The external monitor connected through the USB Port Replicator is flickering. Flickering is usually associated with CRT monitors using a low refresh rate. Always try and use the maximum refresh rate available: v In the Extended mode, increase the refresh rate of the external monitor. v In the Mirror mode, increase the refresh rate of your notebook computer screen, which in turn increases the refresh rate of the external monitor. For more information about the supported refresh rates, see "Adjusting Video Settings" on page 10. 5. ® ® You cannot use ThinkVantage Presentation Director to change your ThinkPad display settings when you attach external monitors on both USB Port Replicator VGA port and ThinkPad VGA port. ThinkVantage Presentation Director cannot be used for ThinkPad display settings when the USB Port Replicator connected. To set up the display property for multiple external monitor, do the following: v To change the display settings of the external monitor attached on USB Port Replicator, click the USB Port Replicator icon in system tray and set up in the popup setting menu. v To change the display settings of the external monitor attached on ThinkPad VGA port, do one of the following: - For Windows Vista, right-click the blank area on the desktop, click Property to open the Display properties window and set up there. - For Windows XP, right-click the blank area on the desktop, click Personalize to open the Display properties window and set up there. Audio You cannot hear anything through your notebook computer speakers or you cannot use Microphone-in port or audio-out port on the notebook computer.
