Recovery to Factory Contents by using Product Recovery CDs To create the service partition and install the factory contents from the recovery CD, do the following: Note: The recovery process might take up to 2 hours. 1. Insert the recovery CD into the CD or DVD drive, then restart the computer. 2. Following message is displayed:" Your computer originally included a Product Recovery program....Reinstall the Product Recovery program?(Y/N)[]". 3. Press Y key. The service partition is created and loaded with the Product Recovery program files. 4. At next window, press Enter to continue. a. The service partition is created. The system automatically reboots during this process. b. The recovery process copies some files to the service partition, and PKUNZIP others. c. Follow the prompts. You may be prompted to change CDs. d. When the process is complete, the system reboots. 3.2 ROM-based setup Pressing the F1 key during POST will allow the user to enter the BIOS Setup Utility. 3.3 Boot Menu Pressing the F12 key during POST will allow the user to boot an alternate boot sequence. 3.4 Language ROM-based setup in system will support Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish. 3.5 IBM COPRORATION string must be in the BIOS In the address range E000:0000 to F000:FFF0, the following string must be imbedded: ' IBM CORPORATION' the hex equivalent is: 49 42 4D 20 43 4F 52 50 4F 52 41 54 49 4F 4E 3.6 Boot Time The BIOS shall hand off control of the system to the OS within the following time limits: S5->S0 10 seconds S4->S0 10 seconds S3->S0 0.5 seconds 35
