Step 3: Install memory and option cards CAUTION: If you are installing memory or option cards sometime after setting up the printer, turn the printer off and unplug the power cord before continuing. Note: Use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the system board access cover and to install some of the cards. You can customize your printer memory capacity and connectivity by adding optional cards. The instructions in this section help you install any of the following options: • Memory cards - Printer memory - Flash memory - Fonts • Firmware cards - Bar Code - ImageQuick™ - IPDS and SCS/TNe - PrintCryption™ • Other options - Printer hard disk - RS-232 serial interface card - Parallel 1284-B interface card - MarkNet™ N2100 Series internal print servers (also called internal network adapters or INAs) Accessing the printer system board You must access the printer system board to install printer memory, flash memory, or an option card.
