Glossary of Terms Category 3 (CAT3): A twisted pair cable that meets specified requirements for 10 Mbps networking up to 328 ft. (100m). Category 5 (CAT5): A shielded twisted pair cable that meets requirements for 10 and 100 Mbps networking up to 328 ft. (100m).
