Rsync ReadyNAS Pro Business Edition User Guide Access to the share through rsync is identical regardless of the security mode. If you specified a user or password in the rsync share access tab, you will need to specify this when accessing the rsync share. Unlike other protocols, rsync uses arbitrary user name and password that is specific only for rsync access. The user account you specify does not need to exist on the ReadyNAS or a domain controller. Figure 3-25 Here is an example of a way for a Linux client to list the content of a ReadyNAS rsync share with no user name and password defined: # rsync ::backup To recursively copy the content of a share to /tmp: # rsync -a ::backup /tmp To do the same except with a login user and password hello, enter: # rsync -a user@::backup /tmp Password: ***** Note: The ReadyNAS does not support Rsync over SSH.
