11-10
System Maintenance
The diagnostic test fields from Menu 24.4 - System Maintenance - Diagnostic are listed and
defined in Table 11-6.
Call Testing and TCP/IP Tools
Two test selections—Manual Call and Internet Setup Test—are available for testing call placement
and session connection with remote hosts. Both tests cause a call to be placed to a remote node and
display the progress of the connection. Manual Call (command 5) prompts you to specify the
desired remote node by its profile number in Menu 11. Internet Setup Test (command 11)
automatically calls the remote node that has been specified as an ISP.
Table 11-6.
System Maintenance - Diagnostic Fields
Field
Command
Description
Hang Up B1 Call
[Enter 1]
Hangs up B channel 1. It is useful only if the B1 line is currently
connected to a remote node or a dial-in user.
Hang Up B2 Call
[Enter 2]
Hangs up B channel 2. It is useful only if the B2 line is currently
connected to a remote node or a dial-in user.
Reset ISDN
[Enter3]
Reinitializes the ISDN link to the telephone company.
ISDN Connection
Test
[Enter 4]
Instructs the router to perform a loopback test of the ISDN line.
A call is placed from one B channel to the other, and data is passed.
A failure of this test indicates a problem either with the ISDN line
itself or with your current ISDN configuration. If a problem occurs,
an error message is displayed.
Manual Call
[Enter 5]
Places a manual call to a remote node and tests the connectivity to
that remote node. As the call is placed, traces are displayed on the
screen showing the progress of the call setup and protocol
negotiation.
TCP/IP
Internet Setup Test
[Enter 11]
Causes the router to place a manual call to the ISP and log in to the
account. A trace is displayed on the screen showing the progress of
the call setup and protocol negotiation.
Ping Host
[Enter 12]
Pings a host to determine the functionality of the TCP/IP protocol on
your system.
