Insight Managed WiFi 6 AX1800 Dual Band Access Point Models WAX610 and WAX610Y Connect the access point to a Power over Ethernet plus (PoE+, 802.3at) switch in your network. The switch must be connected to a network router that is connected to the Internet. If you use a PoE+ switch that is located indoors, you must install a PoE+ Ethernet surge protector on the cable from the switch to the access point located outdoors. Note: Model WAX610Y does not provide a power connector, nor requires a power adapter. You power up this model only by connecting an Ethernet cable to a PoE+ switch. If connected to 2.5 Gbps equipment, the access point LAN PoE+ port supports Ethernet speeds up to 2.5 Gbps within your LAN. The following figure show a NETGEAR MS510TXUP switch, which supports speeds of 2.5 Gbps and higher, as well as PoE+. If your Internet connection, modem, router, and switch support a speed of 2.5 Gbps, the access point's Internet connection also functions at 2.5 Gbps. Otherwise, the Internet connection functions at 1 Gbps, which is a common speed. Figure 8. Set up model WAX610Y with a PoE+ connection to your network To set up the access point with an Ethernet connection to your network: 1. Use the latch on the front of the access point to open the cover. Carefully pull the latch toward you and pull the cover downward so that it slides out of the enclosure. The LAN/PoE+ port is now accessible. 2. Connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN/PoE+ port on the access point. 3. If you use a PoE+ switch that is located indoors, install a PoE+ Ethernet surge protector (not supplied) on the cable from the switch to the access point located outdoors. The previous figure shows such a setup. Install the Access Point in Your 32 Network and Access It for Initial Configuration User Manual
