Setup Menu U Motion Detection Press the d button M z (Setup menu) (A 94) M U Motion detection Specify whether or not motion detection is used to reduce the effects of subject movement and camera shake when taking still pictures. U Auto (default setting) When the camera detects subject movement or camera shake, the ISO sensitivity and shutter speed are automatically increased to reduce blurring. Note that motion detection is not active in the following situations: • When the flash is set to X (fill flash) • When the ISO sensitivity option (A 56) is set fixed at a particular value in A (auto) mode • When using Multi-shot 16 (A 55) • In the following scene modes: Night portrait (A 37), Dusk/dawn (A 38), Night landscape (A 39), Museum (A 40), Backlight (A 41) • When using Sport Continuous mode (A 46) Off Motion detection is not enabled. The motion detection setting can be confirmed in the monitor during shooting (A 21). When the camera detects shaking and increases shutter speed, the motion detection indicator turns green. When set to Off, no icon is displayed. Basic Camera Setup B Notes on Motion detection • Blurring caused by camera shake or subject movement may not be eliminated depending on shooting conditions. • Motion detection may not function if the subject exhibits significant movement or is too dark. • The images taken may become somewhat grainy. 105
