Basic Camera Setup Setup Menu h AF Assist Press the d button M z (Setup menu) (A 94) M h AF assist Specify whether or not the AF-assist illuminator is used to help the camera focus when the subject is poorly lit. Auto (default setting) AF-assist illuminator will be used to assist the focus operation when the subject is poorly lit. The illuminator has a range of about 4.0 m (13 ft.) at the maximum wideangle position and 3.0 m (9 ft. 10 in.) at the maximum telephoto position. However, the AF-assist illumination will not turn on in some scene modes even if Auto is selected (A 36-40). Off Disable this function. The camera may be unable to focus if lighting is poor. 106
