Parts of the Camera The Mode Dial To select a mode, align the mode icon with the " " mark next to the mode dial. Before You Begin Exposure Mode ( 48) P, S, A, and M modes offer varying degrees of control over shutter speed and aperture. A shooting menu is available which grants access to advanced settings such as metering and image sharpening. Auto ( 24) A simple "point-and-shoot" mode in which the majority of camera settings are controlled by the camera. Recommended for first-time users of digital cameras.
