First Steps Inserting the Battery into the Camera Insert a Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL12 (supplied) into the camera. • Charge the battery before the first use or when the battery is running low. For more information about charging the battery, see "Charging the Battery Using the Battery Charger (COOLPIX S610)" (A 12) if you are using the COOLPIX S610, or "Charging the Battery Using the AC Adapter (COOLPIX S610c)" (A 16) if you are using the COOLPIX S610c. 1 Open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover. Slide the cover latch to the Y position 1. 2 Insert the battery. Confirm that the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals are oriented correctly as described on the label at the entrance of the battery chamber, and insert the battery. Use the battery to push the orange battery latch in the direction indicated by the arrow 1 and fully insert the battery 2. When the battery is fully inserted, the battery latch will lock it in place. Inserting the Battery into the Camera
Insert a Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL12 (supplied) into the camera.

Charge the battery before the first use or when the battery is running low. For
more information about charging the battery, see “Charging the Battery Using
the Battery Charger (COOLPIX S610)” (

12) if you are using the COOLPIX S610,
or “Charging the Battery Using the AC Adapter (COOLPIX S610c)” (

16) if you
are using the COOLPIX S610c.

Open the battery-chamber/memory card slot
cover.
Slide the cover latch to the
Y
position

.

Insert the battery.
Confirm that the positive (+) and negative (–) terminals
are oriented correctly as described on the label at the
entrance of the battery chamber, and insert the battery.
Use the battery to push the orange battery latch in the
direction indicated by the arrow

and fully insert the
battery

. When the battery is fully inserted, the battery
latch will lock it in place.
