Printing from UNIX: LPD and FTP LPD (Line Printer Daemon) Printing LPD is the most common protocol for printing with TCP/IP to a network printer. Refer to the workstation's manual for details of the lpr and lp commands. The following explanation uses: • print file = test.prn • printer name = PRINTER_lp Logical printers The print server includes three logical printers. Logical printer Used for lp Printing a file created using the printer driver. sjis Printing a text file of Shift JIS Kanji code PostScript only. euc Printing a text file of the EUC Kanji code. PostScript only. LPD Printing: BSD-Based UNIX Printing Print using the lpr command: # lpr -PCprinter_lp test.prn Deleting To delete a print job, use the lprm command.
