Operations Fax - sending Problem Cause & solution I cannot send documents. The other party complains that letters on their received document are distorted or not clear. The other party complains that dirty patterns or black lines appear on their received document. I cannot send a fax overseas. qThe telephone line cord is connected to the EXT jack on the unit. Connect to the LINE jack (p. 14). qThe other party's fax machine is busy or has run out of recording paper. Try again. qThe other party's machine is not a facsimile. Check with the other party. qThe other party's fax machine rings too many times. Send the fax manually - dial the number, confirm the fax tone, then press FAX/START . qIf your line has special telephone services such as call waiting, the service may have been activated during fax transmission. Connect the unit to a line that does not have these services. qThe extension telephone on the same line is off the hook. Hang up the extension telephone and try again. qTry copying the document. If the copied image is clear, there may be something wrong with the other party's machine. qThe glass or rollers are dirty. Clean them (p. 67). qUse the overseas transmission mode of feature #23 (p. 52). qAdd two pauses at the end of the telephone number or dial manually. Fax - receiving Problem I cannot receive documents. I cannot receive documents automatically. The display shows the following message, but faxes are not received. CONNECTING..... Cause & solution qThe telephone line cord is connected to the EXT jack on the unit. Connect to the LINE jack (p. 14). qThe receive mode is set to TEL mode. Set to FAX ONLY mode (p. 39) or TEL/FAX mode (p. 40). qThe time taken to answer the call is too long. Decrease the number of rings of features #06 (p. 50), #30 (p. 53) and #78 (p. 55). qThe incoming call is not a fax. Change the receive mode to TEL mode (p. 38).
