PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION THE SATELLITE LOCATIONS The two main DIRECTV satellites are located 22,000 miles above the equator at approximately 101° and 119° west longitude. To look at these satellites if you live in Miami, you must have a clear line of sight to the Southwest; if you live in San Francisco, you must have a clear line to the South-Southeast. (110°W satellite not shown. If services from 110°W satellite are offered in your local area, you will be notified.) FINDING THE DISH POINTING COORDINATES Finding the dish pointing coordinates for your location includes presetting the azimuth, elevation, and tilt. This is done by following the directions from your satellite receiver that appear on your TV screen. To accomplish this, make sure that your satellite receiver is properly installed to your television so that you can see the menu directions on your TV screen. Your satellite receiver does not need to be connected to your antenna for this step.
