4, 5 1, 2 3 A y Taking Pictures of Dark Scenes (Night Scene/Fireworks Mode) Taking Pictures 4 You can choose settings appropriate for taking pictures of dark scenes, such as nightscapes. A Use this mode when taking pictures of night views. y Use this mode to take spectacular pictures of fireworks. 1 Press the four-way controller (3) in A mode. The Capture Mode Palette appears. 2 Use the four-way controller (2345) to select A (Night Scene) or y (Fireworks). 3 Press the 4 button. The shooting mode is selected and the camera returns to capture status. 4 Press the shutter release button halfway. The focus frame on the LCD monitor turns green if the subject is in focus. 5 Press the shutter release button fully. The picture is taken. • The shutter speed is slower when taking pictures of dark scenes. • The continuous shooting function is not available in A mode and y mode. • To prevent camera shake, use a tripod and the self-timer function. (p.62) • The sensitivity is set at 80, the focus mode is set to s, and the flash mode is set to a in y mode. In addition, the shutter speed is set at 4 sec. and the aperture is left open, and EV compensation is not available. 58
