Page 21 highlights

: R8150 Correct Tension Regulation Balanced tensions are essential for sewing. If your tension is correct, you will hove perfect seams os sketched below (Ill). Sketch I - The threads interlock on the underside of the fabric. Cause: Upper tension too loose or lower tension too tight. Sketch Il - The threads interlock on the surface of the fabric. Cause: Upper tension too fight or lower tension too loose. A To check whether the tensions are correctly bal anced, take a closely woven piece of fabric and sew a few straight and zigzag seams, If the straight stitches are tightly drown in on both sides of the fabric (see seam sketch Ill), the tensions are correct. The surest way to double-check this is by eyomining a zigzog seam. If the zigzag seam is equally wide on surface and underside of the fabric, that is, if the threads are locked exactly at the zigs and zags of the seam, the tension ad just ment is correct. -e "-" tszss esse!.sss' 4, L .1 II. Balanced

essential
for sewing.
If
your
tension
is
correct,
you
will
hove
perfect
seams
os
sketched
below
(Ill).
Sketch

Cause:
Upper

or
lower
tension
too

on
the
surface

Cause:

or
lower
tension
too

To
check
whether
the
tensions
are
correctly
bal
anced,
take
a
closely

piece
of
fabric
and
sew
a
few
straight

If
the

Ill),
the
tensions
are
correct.
The
surest
way
to
double-check
this
is
by
eyomining
a
zigzog
seam.
If
the
zigzag
seam
is
equally
wide

underside
of
the
fabric,
that
is,
if
the
threads
are
locked
exactly
at
the

of
the
seam,
the
tension
ad
just
ment
is
correct.
