The watch can wirelessly connect to a smartphone. An always ON screen and battery charge of up to 4 days allows you to wear the watch every day and night. You can monitor your metrics and get personalized guidance with the Philips HealthSuite health app. Intended use Philips health watch measures, tracks, and analyzes movement and physiological parameters. These metrics are intended as input for behavioral change programs for managing lifestyle of individuals with risk of or affected by weight and activity related chronic disease. The device is intended for 24/7 use in daily life, both indoor and outdoor, by adults of 18 years and older. Operating principle The Philips health watch is a wrist-worn device for 24/7 home use (indoor and outdoor). The device uses a tri-axial accelerometer to measure motion and green Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) and a photodiode to create a photoplethysmogram (PPG). The accelerometer output and the PPG-signal are analyzed to determine heartbeat, activity type, steps taken, and are used as input for estimation of energy expenditure and other parameters.
