CONNECTIONS • Connecting Audio Input/Output Cords • Use the red/white pin-plug cords. • Connect the white plug to the L (left) channel and the red plug to the R (right channel). Be sure to insert the plugs into the terminals fully. L White plug R Red plug NOTE: • Shortpinplugs (16in all) are fitted to each of the AUDIOIN terminals for PHONO, TUNER, TAPE 1/DATPLAY, TAPE 2 MONITOR PLAY, LD, TV/AUX, VCR 1and VCR 2 to improve sound quality. Remove these when making connections. • Keep shortpinplugs in a safeplace. Do notinsertin the REC, AUDIO OUT or VIDEO IN, OUT terminals. • Replace shortpinplugs in the terminals from which have they were removed when the terminal becomes vacant. The short pin plugs may be inserted into these terminals only. Do not use the plugs for other terminals, as this may lead to no sound output or malfunction of the unit. III Connecting Video Input/Output Cords • Use pin-plug cords. • Be sure to insert the plugs into the terminals fully. Pin-Plug (yellow plug) CONNECTING THE POWER CORD (For U.S. and Canadian models) Household electrical out lets are provided with specific polarity, a live side and a neutral (ground) side. This unit utilizes such polarity in order to improve sound quality. As shown in the illustration, be sure to insert the power plug so that its blades match the width of slots in the outlet. NOTE: When there is no external unit to be connected to the terminals with short pin plugs, do not remove the short pin plugs.
