OPERATION PLUNGE CUTTING See Figure 13. WARNING: To avoid loss of control, broken blades, or damage to the material being cut, always use extreme caution when making plunge cuts. We do not recommend plunge cutting on materials other than wood. Mark the line of cut clearly on the workpiece. Set the cutting angle at 0°. Set orbital adjustment knob to "0". Tilt the saw forward so that it rests on the front edge of the base and blade will not come in contact with the workpiece when the saw is turned on. Make sure the blade is inside the area to be cut. Using high speed, start the saw and slowly lower the blade into the workpiece until the blade cuts through the wood. Continue lowering the blade into the workpiece until the base rests flat on the work surface, then move the saw forward to complete the opening. Use only the 7 teeth per inch blade for this type of cut. Fig. 13 MAINTENANCE WARNING: When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields during power tool operation or when blowing dust. If operation is dusty, also wear a dust mask. WARNING: To avoid serious personal injury, always remove the battery pack from the tool when cleaning or performing any maintenance. GENERAL MAINTENANCE Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc. WARNING: Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleumbased products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury. Only the parts shown on the parts list are intended to be repaired or replaced by the customer. All other parts should be replaced at an Authorized Service Center. 15
