(RPM) Spindle Thread 5/8 x 11 UNC ASSEMBLY UNPACKING This product requires assembly. n Carefully remove the tool and any accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are included. WARNING: Do not use this product if any parts on the includes section are already assembled to your product when you unpack it. Parts on this list are not assembled to the product by the manufacturer and require customer installation. Use of a product that may have been improperly assembled could result in serious personal injury. n Inspect the tool carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping. n Do not discard the packing material until you have carefully inspected and satisfactorily operated the tool. n If any parts are damaged or missing, please call 1-800-525-2579 for assistance. WARNING: If any parts are damaged or missing do not operate this product until the parts are replaced. Use of this product with damaged or missing parts could result in serious personal injury. WARNING: Do not attempt to modify this product or create accessories not recommended for use with this product. Any such alteration or modification is misuse and could result in a hazardous condition leading to possible serious personal injury. INSTALLING/REMOVING WHEEL GUARD See Figure 1, page 13. To install: Unlock the guard clasp by pulling the clasp out, away from the grinder. Place the guard on the shoulder of the bearing cap by aligning index dots on guard and bearing cap. Press down on guard until it is fully seated. Rotate the guard to its correct position. Refer to Positioning the Wheel Guard in Operations. NOTE: Be sure the raised ridge on the guard is seated in the groove on the bearing cap. Lock the guard clasp by pushing the clasp in. To remove: Remove the disc flange, grinding or cutting wheel, and flange nut. Unlock the guard clasp by pulling the clasp out. Rotate guard until dots align. Remove the guard. INSTALLING GRINDING WHEEL See Figure 1, page 13. DANGER: Use ONLY Type 27 depressed center grinding wheels (such as the one provided with this product). Type 1 straight or cut-off wheels should not be used without the proper guard. Use for any other purpose is not recommended and creates a hazard, which will result in serious injury. TYPE 27 − OK TO USE TYPE 1 − DO NOT USE WARNING: To prevent accidental starting that could cause serious personal injury, always remove the battery pack from the product when assembling parts. NOTE: This tool can be used with a Type 1 straight or cutoff wheel if the accessory wheel guard insert is purchased separately as described in the Operation section later in the manual.
