Turning your Sprint PCS Phone on and off. When you're ready to turn your phone on, fully extend the antenna for best reception. Press and hold until the LED comes on and the phone beeps. When the phone has found a signal, the icon appears. Once the phone is on, it enters Standby mode, which is the phone's idle state. You can make and receive calls now. To turn your phone off, press and hold until the display goes blank. When the phone is turned off, nothing is displayed on the screen. Note: If is pressed for less than one second, the phone will not turn off. This helps keep your phone from being turned off accidentally. Standby mode. Standby is the most basic state of your Sprint PCS Phone. The phone goes into Standby mode soon after you turn it on, or whenever you briefly press . When your phone is in Standby mode, you will typically see the banner (that's the message displayed when you turn on your phone). If you enter a phone number, you can press to dial it, or press to save it in the Internal Phone Book. Press at any time to return to Standby mode. Be careful; if you're on a call when you press , you'll return to Standby mode, but it also disconnects the call.
