MMS (Multimedia Message Service) A message service for the mobile environment, standardized by the WAP Forum and the 3rd Generation Partnership Program (3GPP). For phone users, MMS is similar to Short Message Service (SMS)-it provides automatic, immediate delivery of user-created content from phone to phone. The message addressing used is primarily phone numbers, thus the traffic goes from phone to phone. MMS also provides support for e-mail addressing, so that messages can also be sent by e-mail. In addition to the text content of SMS, MMS messages can contain still images, voice or audio clips, and later also video clips and presentation information. Multiparty Calling Ability to establish a conference call involving up to five additional parties. Phone Password Security code used to unlock the phone when you have selected the option to lock it automatically each time it switches on. PIN (Personal Identification Number) Security code that protects the phone/SIM against unauthorized use. The PIN is supplied by the service provider with the SIM card. It may be a four to eight-digit number and can be changed, as required. PUK (PIN Unblocking Key) Security code used to unlock the phone when an incorrect PIN has been entered three times in succession. The Glossary 160
