Sound Adjustments Enjoying Surround Sound by Using Sound Field This system can create 5.1 channel surround sound from two front speakers and a subwoofer. You can take advantage of this front surround sound simply by selecting one of system's preprogrammed sound fields. They bring the exciting and powerful sound of movie theaters into your home. SOUND FIELD Press SOUND FIELD. The present sound field appears in the front panel display. Press SOUND FIELD repeatedly until the sound field you want appears in the front panel display. All sound field Sound field AUTO 2CH STEREO PORTABLE AUDIO ENHANCER Display AUTO 2CH STEREO P. AUDIO Tip • The system memorizes the last sound field selected for each function mode. However, the system does not memorize the last sound field for the FM and AM functions individually - only the tuner function in general. • If the AC power cord (mains lead) is disconnected for a long period of time, the system may return to its default settings. About S-Force PRO Front Surround Sony's long-term involvement in surround technology (and the vast amounts of acoustic data accumulated as a result) has led to the development of an all-new processing method and advanced DSP to handle this task effectively, and which we call S-Force PRO Front Surround. Compared with previous front surround technologies, S-Force PRO Front Surround reproduces a more convincing sense of distance and space, resulting in a true surround sound experience without the need for rear speakers. Automatic sound field selection x AUTO This mode selects the sound field (Front Surround, 2CH STEREO or PORTABLE AUDIO ENHANCER) automatically according to the type of audio signal being input. The sound field is selected as follows. - Front Surround: when an image disc (e.g., DVD, VCD, etc.) is played, or when the function is set to "TV," "SAT/CABLE," or "VIDEO." - 2CH STEREO: when an audio disc (e.g., CD, Super Audio CD, DATA-CD (MP3), etc.) is played, or when the function is set to "FM" or "AM." - P.AUDIO (PORTABLE AUDIO ENHANCER): when the function is set to "DMPORT1" or "DMPORT2." Note • The sound field for Super Audio CDs is 2CH STEREO only. • The surround effect might be difficult to hear depending on the type of source signals (e.g., digital stereo signals, digital multi signals, etc.) except for DVD multi-channel signals. 32US
