Troubleshooting (Continued) • Cover the sensor of your VCR with black paper. Batteries/Power sources The power abruptly turns off. • When approximately 5 minutes have elapsed while you do not operate your camcorder, the camcorder is automatically turned off (A.SHUT OFF). Change the setting of [A.SHUT OFF] (p. 52), or turn on the power again (p. 15), or use the AC Adaptor. • The battery is fully discharged, or almost discharged. Charge the battery pack (p. 12). The CHG (charge) lamp does not light while the battery pack is being charged. • Slide the POWER switch to OFF (CHG) (p. 12). • Attach the battery pack to the camcorder correctly (p. 12). • Connect the power cord to the wall outlet properly. • Insert your camcorder into the Handycam Station correctly (p. 12). • The battery charge is completed (p. 12). The CHG (charge) lamp flashes while the battery pack is being charged. • Attach the battery pack to the camcorder correctly (p. 12). If the problem persists, disconnect the AC Adaptor from the wall outlet and contact your Sony dealer. The battery pack may be worn-out. The remaining battery time indicator does not indicate the correct time. • Ambient temperature is too high or too low, or the battery pack has not been charged enough. This is not a malfunction. • Fully charge the battery again. If the problem persists, the battery may be wornout. Replace it with a new one (p. 12, 80). 68 • The indicated time may not be correct in certain circumstances. For example, when you open or close the LCD panel, it takes about 1 minute to display the correct remaining battery time. LCD screen/viewfinder A rippling effect appears on the LCD screen when you touch it. • This is not a malfunction. Do not press hard on the LCD screen. You cannot turn the LCD backlight off. • During Easy Handycam operation (p. 21), you cannot turn the LCD backlight on/off by pressing and holding DISP/BATT INFO. You cannot turn off the indicator. • You cannot turn off . Touch to check the warning messages (p. 76). The buttons do not appear on the touch panel. • Touch the LCD screen lightly. • Press DISP/BATT INFO on your camcorder (or DISPLAY on the Remote Commander) (p. 91, 93). The buttons on the touch panel do not work correctly or do not work at all. • Adjust the touch panel ([CALIBRATION]) (p. 84).
