Playing back a tape with digital effects During playback, you can process a scene using the digital effect functions: STILL, FLASH, LUMI. and TRAIL. (1) During playback, press DIGITAL EFFECT and turn the SEL/PUSH EXEC dial until the desired digital effect indicator (STILL, FLASH, LUMI. or TRAIL) flashes. (2) Press the SEL/PUSH EXEC dial. The digital effect indicator lights up and the bars appear. In the STILL or LUMI. mode, the image where you press the SEL/PUSH EXEC dial is stored in memory as a still image. (3) Turn the SEL/PUSH EXEC dial to adjust the effect. For details of each digital effect function, see page 38. 2 STILL 1 DIGITAL EFFECT 3 2 STILL Advanced Playback Operations To cancel the digital effect function Press DIGITAL EFFECT. Notes •The digital effect function works only for tapes recorded in the Digital8 system. •You cannot process externally input scenes using the digital effect function. •You cannot record images that you have processed using the digital effect function with this camcorder. To record images that you have processed using the digital effect function, record the images on the VCR using your camcorder as a player. Pictures processed by the digital effect function Pictures processed by the digital effect function are not output through the DV IN/ OUT jack. When you set the POWER switch to OFF (CHARGE) or stop playing back The digital effect function is automatically canceled. 51
