Additional Information Troubleshooting Should any problem persist after you have checked these symptoms, consult your nearest Sony dealer. Power Symptom The rechargeable battery cannot be charged. The player does not turn on or off. Cause and/or corrective action  The disc is playing. Stop playback ( page 24).  Keep  pressed ( page 16).  You cannot turn on the player on the remote when using the player on the battery. Playback Symptom Playback does not start. [No Disc] or [Unknown Disc] appears even when there is a disc in the player. When a button is pressed, lamp flashes and playback does not start. The player does not play from the beginning. Playback stops automatically. Cause and/or corrective action  Place the disc with the playback side facing down ( page 23).  The file is not recorded in the disc/format which this player can play ( page 9).  Nothing is recorded on the disc.  The region code of the DVD does not conform to the player ( page 9).  This player cannot play the DVDs unless they are finalized correctly ( page 9).  This player may not play the discs depending on the condition of the disc or recorder used for recording ( page 9).  Dirty disc. Clean the disc ( page 14).  Defective disc.  Plug the AC power adaptor securely to the wall outlet ( page 21).  Moisture condensation has occurred. Remove the disc and leave the player for a few hours ( page 6).  The HOLD function is activated. Slide the HOLD switch in the direction opposite to that of the arrow ( page 25).  The resume playback function is activated. To start playback from the beginning, press  during playback stop ( page 24).  The rechargeable battery is used up completely. Charge the battery ( page 19).  The disc may contain an auto pause signal. While playing such a disc, this player stops playback at the signal.  If you disconnect the AC power adapter plug or the speaker cradle during playback when using the player on the AC power adaptor, the playback stops and the power is turned off ( page 21, 24). 50
