EXTERNAL ANTENNA/CABLE CONNECTION If your local signal is strong, an indoor antenna may be sufficient to obtain a clear picture. The use of an external antenna is recommended especially in difficult reception areas (inside steel-frame buildings, in mountainous areas, or at great distances from the transmitter). UHF antenna Loosen the screws on the UHF antenna terminals, and pull out the lugs of the UHF loop antenna. VHF antenna Pull out the antenna connector from the VHF antenna terminal, thus disconnecting the VHF telescopic dipole antenna. Use the antenna connector for 300-ohm ribbon type lead-in connection. 300-ohm ribbon type wire I 5 mm (3/16 inch) When the cable is a 75-ohm coaxial type (round) (.0 2 mm (1/8 inch) -I 1) 10 mm (sh6 inch) baick braid. 4--- F-type connector (optional) Pass the ring over cable. Crimp. V F to UHF VHF UH I I Connect the wire and tighten the screws. I Combination VHF/UHF antenna Most combination antennas already have a signal splitter. If you need a splitter or a complete antenna system, see your Sony dealer or a qualified technician. When the cable is a 300-ohm ribbon type lead-in (flat) Connect the leads. - 11 13. V F (%) Antenna connector (supplied) 15 mm (5/8 inch) Plug in. Fasten with a screwdriver. VHF-UHF signal splitter HF HF CATV cable Connect the CATV coaxial cable to the VHF antenna terminal. We recommend that you consult your cable TV company to make sure that the cable is properly connected. 15
