Recording TV programs O ) O O O O O O O 1O. O .= CH +/- TAPE SPEED • REC SONY This section shows you how to, record TV programs in the most basic way: manual recording. With manual recording, you start the VCR recording when the program begins, then stop it when the program ends. The VCR also provides the following ways of recording. • Manually start recording, then stop it automatically-"Recording using the quick timer" (page 24) • Automatically start and stop recording-"Recording TV programs using the timer" (page 26) Turn on your TV and tune in to the VCR: • If the TV is connected to the VCR using the audio/video cable, set the TV to video input. • If the TV is connected to the VCR using only the antenna cable, set the TV to the channel for the VCR. When using a cable box, turn it on. 2 Insert a tape with its safety tab in place. 3 Press CH +1- until a desired channel number appears in the VCR's display window. 4 Select the tape speed, SP or EP, by pressing TAPE SPEED. See "To select tape speeds" on the SP I I next page. 5 Start recording by pressing • REC. When the tape reaches the end, the VCR automatically rewinds it to the beginning. Tips • To select channels, you can also use the number buttons on the remote commander. Enter the desired channel number using the number buttons, then press ENTER. • If you don't want to watch TV while recording, you can turn off the TV. Tips
To
select
channels,
you
can
also
use
the
number
buttons
on
the
remote
commander.
Enter
the
desired
channel
number
using
the
number
buttons,
then
press

Turn
on
your
TV
and
tune

If
the
TV
is

the

using
the

set
the
TV

VCR

TV
to
the
channel
for
the
