Hooking Up the Components 5.1CH Input Hookups Although this receiver incorporates a multi channel decoder, it is also equipped with 5.1CH INPUT jacks. These connections allow you to enjoy multichannel software encoded in formats other than Dolby Digital (AC-3) and DTS. If your DVD player is equipped with 5.1CH OUTPUT jacks, you can connect them directly to this unit to enjoy the sound of the DVD player's multi channel decoder. Alternatively, the 5.1CH INPUT jacks can be used to connect an external multi channel decoder. To fully enjoy multi channel surround sound, you will need five speakers (two front speakers, two rear speakers, and a center speaker) and a sub woofer. Refer to the instruction manual supplied with your DVD player, multi channel decoder, etc., for details on the 5.1 channel input hookups.
