Cascading When two units are cascaded, the master unit can use up to four slave drives of the slave unit. 1 With the two power switches on each unit turned OFF, use the supplied cascade cable to link the two units. 2 Set the switch on the rear of one unit to MASTER, and on the other to SLAVE. Note that if you set both to MASTER or both to SLAVE, neither unit will work properly. 3 Turn on the rear power switches and then turn on the front power switches (always turning on the slave first). number of discs for which copying has been attempted (TOTAL) so far. The slave front panel controls and display are disabled, except for the drive eject keys, headphone jacks and volume controls (which can be used at the appropriate points in the different procedures). When the cascade master is cycling through the slave drives, it uses eight drives instead of four (slave drive 1 on the slave unit becomes drive 5, etc.).
