7 - Operation modes Press the MODE button on the front of the unit to change the operation mode used. The MODE indicator lights for the currently active operating mode. This unit has the following three operating modes. • MIC PRE The unit operates as a microphone preamp. • AUDIO I/F The unit operates as an audio interface. • MIXER The unit operates as a digital mixer. Using the unit as a microphone preamp When the MIC PRE MODE indicator on the front of the unit is lit, you can use the unit as a microphone preamp. NOTE • The default sampling frequency in mic preamp mode is 44.1 kHz. • When the unit is in mic preamp mode, you cannot make settings on the "MIXER" page. If you click the "MIXER" tab, the following message will appear. • When the unit is in mic preamp mode, you cannot change settings in the output signal selection area of the "OUTPUT SETTING" page. The following message will appear if you try to change the settings. (See "OUTPUT SETTING page" on page 22.) Input and output channels in mic preamp mode In mic preamp mode, the routings between input and output channels are fixed as shown below. NOTE When shipped new from the factory, the LINE OUT 1-2 knobs are set at their minimum values, so no signals will be output from the LINE OUT 1-2 jacks. When using mic preamp mode, set the LINE OUT 1-2 knobs to their maximum values. 28 TASCAM US-20x20

7 – Operation modes
Press the
MODE

This unit has the following three operating modes.

Using the unit as a microphone preamp
When the
MIC PRE MODE
indicator on the front of the unit is lit,
you can use the unit as a microphone preamp.
NOTE
The default sampling frequency in mic preamp mode is 44.1
kHz.
When the unit is in mic preamp mode, you cannot make
settings on the “MIXER” page. If you click the “MIXER” tab,
the following message will appear.
When the unit is in mic preamp mode, you cannot change
settings in the output signal selection area of the “OUTPUT
SETTING” page. The following message will appear if you
try to change the settings. (See “OUTPUT SETTING page” on
page 22.)
