16-Using the Rhythm Machine Playing along with the rhythm machine When the Rhythm Screen is open, you can practice along with the rhythm machine, as well as record a mix of the rhythm machine and the input signal. Preparation Before playing along with the rhythm machine, you might need to prepare the input, set the rhythm machine or change the monitor mode, for example. 1) Prepare the input Select the input and set related functions as necessary. For details, see "Selecting the input source" in "7-Recording" on page 42, "Setting the INT/MIC IN input functions" on page 43 and "Adjusting the built-in microphone angle" on page 46. NOTE You can switch to rhythm mode before preparing the input. 2) Switch to rhythm mode When the Home Screen is open, press the PB Control and FX keys at the same time to put the unit in rhythm mode and open the Rhythm Screen. 3) Set the rhythm machine Set the rhythm pattern and tempo of the rhythm machine and the count-in settings as necessary. See "Setting the rhythm machine" on page 83 for details about making these settings. 4) Change the monitor mode In order to monitor the sounds of both the rhythm machine and the input source (guitar, bass, other instrument or singing) and practice along with the rhythm, you must turn the MONITOR item on the Setting Screen ON in advance. If this item is OFF, you cannot monitor the input signal (except when in record standby or when recording). (For details, see "Use input monitoring" on page 32.) 85 TASCAM GT-R1

Playing along with the rhythm
machine
When the Rhythm Screen is open, you can practice
along with the rhythm machine, as well as record a
mix of the rhythm machine and the input signal.
Preparation
Before playing along with the rhythm machine,
you might need to prepare the input, set the rhythm
machine or change the monitor mode, for example.
1) Prepare the input
Select the input and set related functions as
necessary. For details, see “Selecting the input
source” in “7–Recording” on page 42, “Setting
the INT/MIC IN input functions” on page 43 and
“Adjusting the built-in microphone angle” on
page 46.
NOTE
You can switch to rhythm mode before
preparing the input.
2) Switch to rhythm mode
When the Home Screen is open, press the
PB
Control
and
FX
keys at the same time to put the
unit in rhythm mode and open the Rhythm Screen.
3) Set the rhythm machine
Set the rhythm pattern and tempo of the rhythm
machine and the count-in settings as necessary.
See “Setting the rhythm machine” on page 83 for
details about making these settings.
4) Change the monitor mode
In order to monitor the sounds of both the rhythm
machine and the input source (guitar, bass, other
instrument or singing) and practice along with the
rhythm, you must turn the
MONITOR
item on the
Setting Screen
ON
in advance.
If this item is
OFF
, you cannot monitor the input
signal (except when in record standby or when
recording). (For details, see "Use input monitoring"
on page 32.)
