Error Conditions Diagnosing an Error The TI.83 detects errors while performing these tasks. • Evaluating an expression • Executing an instruction • Plotting a graph • Storing a value When the TI.83 detects an error, it returns an error message as a menu title, such as ERR:SYNTAX or ERR:DOMAIN. Appendix B describes each error type and possible reasons for the error. Correcting an Error • If you select 1:Quit (or press y [QUIT] or '), then the home screen is displayed. • If you select 2:Goto, then the previous screen is displayed with the cursor at or near the error location. Note: If a syntax error occurs in the contents of a Y= function during program execution, then the Goto option returns to the Y= editor, not to the program. To correct an error, follow these steps. 1. Note the error type (ERR:error type). 2. Select 2:Goto, if it is available. The previous screen is displayed with the cursor at or near the error location. 3. Determine the error. If you cannot recognize the error, refer to Appendix B. 4.
