52RV535U_EN.book Page 11 Tuesday, July 22, 2008 5:25 PM Chapter 1: Introduction TV back panel connections For an explanation of cable types and connections, see pages 12-19. 1 TV back 2 3 4 Power cord Cable Strap 5 67 8 9 10 1 DIGITAL AUDIO OUT - Optical audio output in Dolby Digital or PCM (pulse-code modulation) format for connecting an external Dolby Digital decoder, amplifier, A/V receiver, or home theater system with optical audio input. 2 HDMI™ IN - High-Definition Multimedia Interface input receives digital audio and uncompressed digital video from an HDMI device or uncompressed digital video from a DVI device. Also see item 4. HDMI connection is necessary to receive 1080p signals. 3 PC IN - For use when connecting a personal computer. 4 PC/HDMI 1 (AUDIO) IN - PC audio input terminal is shared with HDMI 1 analog audio input terminal, and its use can be configured in the Audio Setup menu (- page 51). 5 ColorStream® HD1 and ColorStream® HD2 - Two sets of ColorStream® high-definition component video inputs (with standard stereo audio inputs) for connecting devices with component video output, such as a Toshiba DVD player with ColorStream®. Note: Component video cables carry only video information; separate audio cables are required for a complete connection. 6 VIDEO 1 IN - Standard (composite) video and standard audio inputs plus optional S-video inputs for connecting devices with composite video or Svideo output. Note: Standard (composite) video and S-video cables carry only video information; separate audio cables are required for a complete connection. 7 Fixed Audio OUT - Analog audio outputs for connecting an audio amplifier. 8 IR OUT - For controlling infrared remotecontrolled devices through the TV. You can connect up to two devices with an optical IR blaster cable (page 12), and then control the devices using the TV's IR pass-through features. 9 Service port - For service use only. Used for updating the television's firmware. 10 ANT/CABLE - Input that supports analog (NTSC) and digital (ATSC) off-air antenna signals and analog and digital Cable TV (QAM) signals.
