Connections Connection to an Audio System • When you change the connections, all devices should be turned off. • Refer to the operation manual accompanying external devices for more information. Connection Setting If output is Dolby Digital encoded audio, connect to a Dolby Digital decoder. If output is DTS encoded audio, connect to a DTS decoder. If output is encoded audio for both Dolby Digital and DTS, connect to the decoder which encodes multiple audio sources. Connecting to an MD deck or DAT deck. Setup >Playback >Audio >Digital Out > PCM Dolby Digital DTS - STREAM OFF - PCM ON - STREAM ON - PCM OFF - PCM OFF Notes • The audio source on a disc in a Dolby Digital Multi-channel surround format cannot be recorded as digital sound by an MD or DAT deck. • By connecting this unit to a Multi-channel Dolby Digital decoder, you can enjoy high-quality Dolby Digital Multi-channel surround sound as heard in the movie theaters. • Playing a DVD using incorrect settings may generate noise distortion and may also damage the speakers. • By connecting this unit to the DTS decoder, you can enjoy Multi-channel Surround System which reproduces the original sound as truthfuly as possible.
