Introduction Connections 2 Chapter Connections Connecting to an audio system You can enjoy the benefits of Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby TrueHD by connecting the HDMI output of your player to an AV receiver with an HDMI audio input. You can listen to down-converted Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD as well as Dolby Digital and DTS using a receiver with Dolby Digital and DTS decoding capabilities and an optical digital input. Via HDMI output Make the connection as below, and set "Digital Out HDMI" ( page 55). HDMI compatible device Playback (Basic) Playback (Advanced) Internet connection HDMI input You may need to adjust the HDMI audio output to match the capabilities of your AV amplifier. In this case, set "Digital Out HDMI" ( page 55) to "PCM". HDMI cable (not supplied) HDMI output HDMI input AV amplifier HDMI cable (not supplied) Others Via digital audio output Make the connection as below, and set "Digital Out SPDIF" ( page 55). AV amplifier Digital input Digital input Coaxial Optical Optical digital cable (not supplied) or Caution 757 coaxial cable (not supplied) When you are connecting (via the DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT BITSTREAM/PCM jack) an AV decoder that does not have Dolby Digital, DTS or MPEG decoding capability, be sure to set "Digital Out SPDIF" ( page 55) to "PCM".
