144 Exploring Your Computer's Features Connecting your modem to a telephone line Removing memory media 1 Right-click the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the System tray. After the media is stopped, it is safe to remove. 2 Grasp the card and pull it straight out. Sample removing memory media Do not remove memory media while data is being written or read. Connecting your modem to a telephone line Your computer comes with a built-in modem that can be connected to a standard voice-grade telephone line. The modem allows you to: ❖ Access the Internet. ❖ Communicate with your office's local area network (LAN) or larger corporate wide area network (WAN). For specific information about connecting to a LAN or WAN, consult your network administrator. ❖ Send a fax directly from your computer.
