197 Managing Your Tecra 8100 Computer Operating system compatibility Operating system compatibility Additionally, the Tecra 8100 computer, like all Toshiba computers, bears the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility logo. The logo indicates the unit has passed a series of tests that verify the compatibility of Toshiba's hardware systems and associated adapters with Microsoft Windows. System management This section covers several areas of system management: ❖ Asset management ❖ Fault management ❖ Enterprise management software compatibility ❖ Advanced networking via the NetDock Asset management Inventory management Accurate asset management is a requirement for corporate customers working in a network environment. Corporate IT personnel must be able to correctly and efficiently identify which hardware and software components make up the IT system infrastructure in order to accurately evaluate the existing inventory and determine what modifications or upgrades may be necessary. Detailed reporting is also a necessity, identifying components such as BIOS version, O/S or software application version, memory capacity, and hard disk size and availability. Additionally, IT personnel must examine systems at the component level, addressing, for example, queries as to which components are most utilized and, thus, most likely to give out.
