Wireless PCI Adapter Encryption To make your network more secure, you may choose to use Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP). WEP is an encryption scheme used to protect your wireless data communications. WEP uses a combination of 64-bit or 128-bit keys to provide access control to your network and encryption security for every data transmission. To decode a data transmission, each point in a network must use an identical 64-bit or 128-bit key. Your PCW200 Wireless 802.11b PCI Adapter supports both 64-bit W EP and 128-bit WEP. Wireless PCI Adapter The Passphrase is a case-sensitive text string with a maximum of 127 characters. Note: Some products refer to 64-bit encryption as "40-bit" encryption. Both are names for the same encryption technology. Encryption can be set to Disabled, 64-bit or 128-bit. Once enabled, you can create an encryption key by using a passphrase, or by entering the key manually. 39 40
